Grow out contest includes Dianichi Kohaku, Akiyama and Sekiguchi Showa, Koda Goshiki. If you haven't had the opportunity to participate in a grow out contest,They are a great learning experience. We have several hundred specially picked tosai (one year old koi) from top breeders in Japan for their selected varieties. Your Job is to carefully select what you think is going to be best koi at the end of next year for our koi show. That is when the real fun starts! The following year we will have a koi show! Judged by the same Japanese koi breeders, they will be looking at how the koi have turned out (body shape, skin quality, color etc) based on your koi keeping skills, as well as the overall selection of the koi. This is a great learning opportunity as we can see how different food types, water quality, and over all technique will affect the change and growth of some great quality koi.

After months of begging and pleading, Mystic Koi has been given permission by Ken Liu of Barstow Koi Farm to allow the use of one of his biggest mud ponds. Your koi will be swimming in nutrient rich clay bottomed koi ponds, and fed high quality koi food for the next year. Then come join us next year as we harvest your koi from the mud pond just like in Japan!
